How much does Car Shipping cost?

Car shipping costs can vary depending on several factors, including the distance, shipping method, vehicle size, and season. In this article, we will break down the factors influencing car shipping costs and provide an overview of Samba Auto Transport’s pricing structure.

Distance and Location:

The primary factor affecting car shipping cost is the distance between the pickup and delivery locations. Generally, the longer the distance, the higher the shipping cost. Remote or difficult-to-reach destinations may result higher shipping cost due to the extra time and effort required by the carrier.

Additional Services:

If you require additional services, such as expedited shipping, it can increase the overall cost of your car shipping quote.

Shipping Method:

The choice between open carrier shipping and enclosed carrier shipping will have a direct impact on the cost of your car shipping service. Open carrier shipping is more cost-effective, while enclosed carrier shipping tends to be more expensive due to the added protection it provides.

Car shipping demand varies throughout the year, with peak seasons typically occurring during summer and winter. During these periods, the increased demand for shipping services can lead to higher costs. Booking your car shipping service during off-peak seasons can result in more competitive pricing.

Vehicle Size and Weight

The size and weight of your vehicle will also influence the cost of shipping. Larger, heavier vehicles take up more space on the carrier, resulting in higher shipping cost.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a Bill of Landing?

The Bill of Landing is an important legal document that will be provided by the trucker on pick up & delivery. The Bill of Landing serves as a contract between the trucker and the owner of the vehicle. The main purpose of the Bill of Landing is to verify that the vehicle’s condition on pick up matches the condition on delivery. Before the trucker loads the vehicle, a full inspection of the vehicle will be made by the trucker. Once the inspection on pick up is complete, the trucker will provide you the Bill of Landing requiring your signature. On delivery, the trucker will do a second inspection and provide you the Bill of Landing once again requiring your signature. Only sign the Bill of Landing if your vehicle is delivered in perfect condition. It is recommended that customers take picture(s) on pick up and delivery.

Do I have to be present at pick up or delivery?

You do not have to be present at pick up or delivery. It is recommended to have a family or friend that is at least 18 years of age be present to release or receive the vehicle and sign the Bill of Landing on pick up or delivery.

Can I ship personal items in my vehicle?

You are allowed up to 100 lbs free of charge. The items must be in one suitcase or box placed at the trunk of the vehicle.

Personal items may be subject to additional costs if transporting over 100 lbs of personal items. It is important to note personal items are not insured.

Is my vehicle insured during transport?

Your vehicle will be insured by the assigned carrier transporting your vehicle. Before we assign your shipment to the motor carrier, Samba Auto Transport collects the carrier’s Certificate of Insurance. By law, all motor carriers must have active commercial insurance while transporting cargo.

What to do if my vehicle is damaged during transport?

We highly recommend taking picture(s) on pick up and delivery. If your vehicle was damaged during transit, do not sign the Bill of Landing and call Samba Auto Transport as soon as possible. We will properly advise you on how to procede. We will have the motor carrier’s Certificate of Insurance saved on file and will assist on filing a claim with the assigned motor carriers insurance.
