The Bill of Landing is an important legal document that will be provided by the trucker on pick up & delivery. The Bill of Landing serves as a contract between the trucker and the owner of the vehicle. The main purpose of the Bill of Landing is to verify that the vehicle’s condition on pick up matches the condition on delivery. Before the trucker loads the vehicle, a full inspection of the vehicle will be made by the trucker. Once the inspection on pick up is complete, the trucker will provide you the Bill of Landing requiring your signature. On delivery, the trucker will do a second inspection and provide you the Bill of Landing once again requiring your signature. Only sign the Bill of Landing if your vehicle is delivered in perfect condition. It is recommended that customers take picture(s) on pick up and delivery.
You do not have to be present at pick up or delivery. It is recommended to have a family or friend that is at least 18 years of age be present to release or receive the vehicle and sign the Bill of Landing on pick up or delivery.
You are allowed up to 100 lbs free of charge. The items must be in one suitcase or box placed at the trunk of the vehicle.
Personal items may be subject to additional costs if transporting over 100 lbs of personal items. It is important to note personal items are not insured.
Your vehicle will be insured by the assigned carrier transporting your vehicle. Before we assign your shipment to the motor carrier, Samba Auto Transport collects the carrier’s Certificate of Insurance. By law, all motor carriers must have active commercial insurance while transporting cargo.
We highly recommend taking picture(s) on pick up and delivery. If your vehicle was damaged during transit, do not sign the Bill of Landing and call Samba Auto Transport as soon as possible. We will properly advise you on how to procede. We will have the motor carrier’s Certificate of Insurance saved on file and will assist on filing a claim with the assigned motor carriers insurance.
